Higgovale
Higgovale is part of what we call the City Bowl of Cape Town which is basically mostly a residential area formed by a natural amphitheatre, at the foot of Table Mountain. From this quarter, you will directly be in Kloof street (less than 5 minute) and
Long street
, great for shopping, eating out and it is also very close to the
beaches
(5 minutes) to relax and have a good time.
Funny enough, there are Cape Townian who don't know where this quarter is, the reason being that it is only residential with upper class accommodation but with no coffee shops, bars, restaurants or shops and so, if they don't know someone living there it is most likely that they vaguely heard of this name before but have no specific idea where it is.
It is Cape Town's highest quarter which dominates the city so the views on the city are superb and therefore most of the accommodations take advantage, cost wise, of this criteria. It is also very green and completely wind sheltered- which is highly valuable in Cape Town!
The next quarter that I would advise you to stay on the other side of Kloof Neck Road is
Tamboerskloof.
Where to stay
Cape Paradise Apartments
These apartments are the best options if you have a tight budget as the rate is great, they all have a kitchenette where you will be able to prepare your own foods instead of eating out and their location will enable you to walk easily to town or to call Rikki's taxi for a cheap lift.
If you are looking for
long term rental
it will be easier to find houses in this quarter but quite difficult for flats as there are no block of flats in the area unless at St Johns.
